About

My name is Carissa Saia and I am a Stage Manager, Scenic Designer, Scenic Carpenter, Scenic Painter, and Property Designer for Theatre Arts.  I am  currently getting my BA in Technical Theatre Arts at Marquette University with a minor in Advertising with an emphasis on graphic design.  I grew up in a suburb of Chicago but have been living in Milwaukee for the past three years.

During my times at Marquette I have been involved in many main stage productions. Some of my credits include; Assistant Stage Managing Censored on Final Approach and Sunday in the Park with George, Stage Managing Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type, The Beaux Stratagem, and Little Shop of Horrors, Assistant Scenic Designing  The Lion in Winter, Scenic Designing Holy Days and Defying Gravity, and Property Designing for Holy Days and If you Take a Mouse to School.

I, along with the rest of the design team for Holy Days, won the “Respondent’s Award of Merit for Collaboration” from KCACTF’s Region III competition in 2012 for our tremendous scenic design. I also won the “Marquette University Scholarship for Technical Theatre” since 2009.

I have been growing my advertising resume for the past two years at Marquette. I have taken an Advertising Copyright class and a Marketing Design class. Both of these classes have helped me to develop my creative side of advertising. I find opportunities that I am gaining in Marquette’s Advertising Program to be outstanding and they are preparing for a life in the real world.

Some of my special skills include; graphic design, knowledge in designing with Adobe Creative Suite and Vectorworks, 3D hand and CAD model making, Scenery construction, utilization of hand and power tools, lighting sound board operation, hanging lights, sewing, organization, and balloon art.

Some of my Social Media accounts include: Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, and WordPress

I will graduate Marquette University in May 2013.
